2004 hard starting with warm weather.
i have a 4.3 2004 4x4 that has been kicking my but. twice when we had a warm up from cold weather, it would start hard. checked for bad gas the works. just cant seem to locate what the heck is going on. there are no codes. any one have a ideal i am all out of them. its hard to check for spark when i am by my self. its getting fuel. the gas does not seem to be bad. i put some seafoam in the tank a few times and sprayed out the carb seemed to help last time. this time when i got home from work it started right up.

you have a carb on a 2004 4.3L ? thats an odd setup ! when temps change rapidly you get condensation...check you distributor cap/rotor and measure your plug wire resistance.... when the wires have higher resistance than the OEM spec they start arcing every where especially when the engine is wet with condensation..this always results in a poor spark...use dielectric grease on the plug wire boot ends that way the water cannot get to the connections... |

Re: 2004 hard starting with warm weather.
i am hoping the wires are in spec. they are OEM. but going to check in the morning. mite be the cap getting water in it.
got it fixed. it was the cap and rotor. the seems to be a bad designed in the way the caps work. Last edited by gremlin96; 02-24-2010 at 08:35 PM. |
