ZC v. Y8 RESULTS!!!

Hello all and everyone else,
I have a lil story to tell. But, you have to wait till later....nah, just kidding. So all of your BULLSHIT has been put to rest with some R&D testing. The ZC did NOT whip the Y8...nor did the Y8 whip the ZC. It went something like this. From a 20 (?, I think it was about 20, maybe 30) the ZC pulled about a half a car and stayed there till about 80. From a dead stop, the Y8 pulled about a car and stayed there until about 80 at which the ZC said he was catching, I don't know, I was looking forward. HOWEVER, this is w/o VTEC hooked up, which will be done this weekend and then we are both going to the track on Friday. I think once VTEC is engaged the Y8 will win, no questions. So, like I thought, it was very close. Unlike Seth thought, the ZC did not and WILL NOT run the Y8 into the ground and shit in it's mouth, case closed. This has been my experience, Ami seems to have the same. DEUCE!!! and until next time...AND DEEEEN...

u say this test, but was it accurate i mean it doesnt sound to accurate. cause doesnt the zc have more torque than the y8, so it will win off the line, so im thinking the zc launched too high and was spining tire if it wasnt winning off the line. and then with the y8 not having vtec, i would think the zc and the y8 would be up and up. so i was thinking hte zc would win just because it should win off the line and stay equal for the rest of the race. thats my thought on it.

you done me proud kenny :ylsuper

civickiller, no matter what the zc vs the y8 will ALWAYS come down to reaction time and shifting skills. the engines are very closley matched. it's not like throwing a b16 in the mix....that should win everytime against either of those (stock vs. stock)

for the fun of it, you guys should switch cars and see what happens

sohc vtec engine with no vtec = teh suck

the other day for fun, i raced my older brother who has a stock Geo Storm which is a 1.6L SOHC 12 valve. needless to say it was like a gokart vs. honda. but then i turned my vtec controller off and it was very close race. without the benefit of the vtec lobes, the little z6 was a total turd over 4500 rpm.

SO,
if you raced a ZC without VTEC and it was an even race, hook the vtec up and you will :smoker2: :smoker2: :smoker2: :smoker2:

doesnt a stock zc have more hp and torque than a y8. even id it doesnt, a zc with basic bolt ons has a lot more potential than a y8 with bolt ons will ever have cuz of the dohc.

looks like it's easy to talk from CA when I'm in FL...so you're right, it just doesn't matter. Oh yeah, so what's your compression ratio? Right, that's what I thought.

ummmm, no. dohc doesn't mean a thing. the y8 has vtec. zc have an extra lobe for high rpm??? nope. what matters are the numbers...

zc:
1595cc
4 cyl, 16 valve
DOHC
9.:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
Power: 137 bhp @ 6800
Redline: 7200 rpm
Torque: 108 lb-ft @ 5700

d16y8:
1590cc
4 cyl, 16 valve
SOHC VTEC-II
9.6:1 c.r.
PGM-FI (MPFI)
Power: 127 bhp @ 6600
Redline: 7200 rpm
Torque: 107 lb-ft @ 5500

those specs are so close.....it does not matter one has dohc and one has vtec. i've said it before and i'll say it again....it is an even match that boils down to reaction time and driving skill.

seriously...make it interesting.....swap cars one night an see which car wins

BTW ami, 10 hp and 2 ft lbs of torque go a long ass way in a 2000 Lb car And two camshafts does meen a thing, it allows for alot more tuning options.... Not to mention that because the Y8 is so great and makes all its power in the HIGH RPM range, this gives the zc a much more aggresive power band since it makes peak power @ 6800 and the Y8 makes its @ 7200-7400? So you think those higher rpms are helping you eh? WRONG, they just prolong the inevitable.... You see, it takes a longer amount of time for the engine to spin up to those higher rpms and produce max HP, the ZC does it @ at least 400 rpms earlier. This guy is iether bullshiting out his ass, or his frend sucks ass at driving so bad it not even worth giving him praise... Like racing my 18 year old neaghbor
