Hello,
Let me start off by telling you that I am an avid "Sim Racer" or Simulation Racer. I've been playing the Nascar Racing Series, by Papyrus, for a couple of years now. As anyone involved in the Sim Racing scene will tell you, having a custom painted car is a big part of the experience. Well anyway, I got a model for Christmas with the idea that I do it like my custom sim race car. Taking up the challenge, I've been working on this slowly since then. Here is a montage of my progress so far. I've just about got all of the painting finished. Exterior is done with Testors spray cans. All interior and glass done with brush painting. I'd like to thank all that post here for their expertise! I've learned quite a lot from this forum and appreciate all that take the time to post here. Let me start out with the initial design, as created for "Nascar Racing: 2003 Season." |

Here is the base paint scheme. If I had visited my local Auto Zone, I would have found a better match for the champagne color. I think that the Champagne Gold looks pretty good, though. Some people have even suggested that I use a darker gold on my sim car.

A peak at the engine. All handbrushed, but I think it came out decent. Decent for my first time, anyway.

It was difficult getting the area where the paint changes color correct. One problem is that the model I'm using is for a 1995 Chev and the sim uses a 2003 body style. The line is a little rough, but it will be covered by the stripe decals anyway!
I would love to have some feedback on this guys. Thanks again for the help! |

Good idea!! loosk cool so far. Altough I have one comment. In the game, your paint looks tan, your model looks kinda gold. It looks good though

Here's the strange thing about the color of the paint. The gold that I used actually matches fairly well with the 1987 #12 Miller High Life Buick driven by Bobby Allison (this one done by Michael Herzig http://sites.nexusisp.com/lgsmirle/mihe12a.htm ).
I feel like the color goes well with the scheme since the design is basically a throw back to the B Allison car to start with. |

Very interesting.
I'm not a Nascar fan but this is a very cool idea - a model of the car you race on the computer

I'll be doing the decals with inkjet decal paper. I'm thinking that the rear stripe/chevy emblem will be the most difficult part.
Here's the link to the league I have been running with (OSCAR). I was in one of the sportsman divisions, but I'm taking some time off here recently. http://www.onlineracin.com/flashpoint/default.asp Thanks for all the positive responses! |
