2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Torque Mounts

Hi,

Does anyone have step by step instructions (Pictures and what type of tools would be nice) on how to install torque mounts (On top of engine next to the front valve cover) on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix GT?

Thanks

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Torque Mounts

Basic tools only...
1) Remove the bolt & nut from the engine mount strut at the bracket on the motor. (you can rock the engine to ease bolt removal)
2) Remove the bolt & nut from the engine mount strut at the bracket on the radiator support

I would assume that you would have to jack up the engine in order to remove the mounts?

Re: 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix Torque Mounts

No lifting needed, these control the forward-backward movement (or torque) of the engine. Some G.M. models have an extra hole in the mount to reposition the engine forward for easier access to the rear of the engine.
