Re: 95 jimmy p0700 code- engine rough idle

If the engine is not running correctly, it's very possible for transmission DTC's to be set and NOT set any engine DTC's. P0700 indicates a problem with transmission controls, (usually solenoids or a wiring problem). Diagnose the rough idle before the P0700.

When the distributor is removed and reinstalled, if P1345 is set, it typically means the distributor is off one tooth. If you're not seeing P1345, the distributor is installed correctly and ignition timing is ok.

Here are a few things to check:
Fuel pressure and leakdown. With Key ON, engine OFF, and the fuel pump running, fuel pressure must be 58psi to 64psi and must remain above 53psi for 3 to 5 minutes after the fuel pump shuts off.

Have you replaced the distributor cap and rotor? Did you use silicone dielectric grease on all terminals inside and out?

CMFI engines can be very fussy when it comes to secondary ignition parts: Spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, and ignition coil, AC Delco is recommended. What brand and part number spark plugs did you install?

Post your results.

Re: p0700 code engine rough idle

These might help with locating TDC & aligning the distributor:

This might help with distributor cap wiring:
