Speedometer Quit/Stalls while driving?

95 Isuzu Rodeo LS 4wd 5-speed. Last week the speedometer stopped working, and the check engine light came on one day before. I am finally getting a chance to look at it tonight but what can cause the check engine light to come on and then the speedometer to stop working?

Also while driving and approaching a stop of making a turn to the right the engine stalls, it starts right back up either with the starter or by popping the clutch but its kind of irritating.
I am thinking fuel filter? or maybe the fuel pump? any other suggestions?

Vehicle speed sensor, perhaps?
