Driver side dimming heated mirror problem
Thanks in advance for any help. Am having an issue with the drivers side mirror. 2001 Buick Regal LS white color. The mirror is heated, dimming, power. The reflection is distorted and hazy. Appears to be some liquid leaking. Called the dealer and they said 350 for a mirror? Huh? No wonder I usually dont call them.
Is the dimming heated mirror that expensive? Or is that another dealer rip off. Is it difficult to replace myself? Am by no means an expert on cars, but have basic skills. Any other places to find a decent used white one? Can I replace it with just a regular mirror is the dimming/heated/power one is that expensive? Any help would be appreciated. |

Re: Driver side dimming heated mirror problem
The dimming heated mirror is expensive and may be GM dealer only. You can try finding one at a salvage yard or on EBay but the regular power mirrors are more common. You could use the regular power mirror with minor electrical reconfiguration since extra wires are used in the harness. The shape or form factor should be the same. Also, getting one that matches your white may be difficult too. I'm looking for a white passenger side mirror for our '99 Regal LS but no luck so far. Wife cracked the outer part while backing out of the garage.

Re: Driver side dimming heated mirror problem
Thanks B...been looking around for mirror , tough to find is right..the Century mirror must fit the Regal as well i would imagine? I might just give up on the heated dimming model and try and find a regular power one..or someone suggested I go to glass store and have them cut out a piece to use? I only really need the glass, that is what the problem is, not the mirror itself..good luck in finding your mirror, let me know what color and if I come across one will let you know...yours is regular? saw some black ones on ebay

Re: Driver side dimming heated mirror problem
Rockauto has them for under $50 (primed).

Re: Driver side dimming heated mirror problem
Yeah, am still looking through junkyards with no luck. Plus trying to weed out all the web auto part scammers. Worse comes to worse, am going to just get a piece of glass and replace it. I do love that dimming feature though. My eyes are sensitive to bright light.
