turning an lt1 to a 383 stroker

I want a project and i want to start off with a motor, then later on buying a 94-96 camaro, i also want to build up a 4l60, shift kit, stall conveter, cause i believe a built tranny is just as good as a manual even with a good driver. Well anyways i want to pick up an lt1 motor and get a 383 stroker kit from online, i know i need to have it bored .30" over and honed, soo any tips, advice or opinions would be great!
