hard starting 4 cyl 95 ranger

i have a 95 4 cyl ranger, and it has the po 300 code.It always seems as when i try to start, the first couple times it almost starts. then after 3 or 4 times doesnt seem like it will do anything.Like it stoped getting spark or gas. But the other day first time i tried it it started but i was pumping the gas. i know its fuel injected, but guess it was just enough to get it going. It was running rough cause i couldnt get it going in months. After bout 10 minutes it smoothed out. and then i turned it off. Then tried to start it and seemed liked it wasnt getting spark or gas once again! Seems like if i let it sit for a while it want to start. but more i try to get it going the lest it seem like it wants to start. Anyone have any ideas? thanks in advance

The fuel pump could be getting weak. Try turning the key off and then turning it back on several times without going all the way to start. If after doing this it starts then you have a fuel problem.
