Change Oil Light came on after only 2500 miles

Grand am GT 1999 6cyl.

Possible issues to check?

I took it to the shop to have the oil changed already and it was 1 notch on the stick lower than full.

was the reset oil reset at the last oil change? if the car has had a lot of extra short trips on this oil change could be another
reason.

x2. Try resetting light either by button on drivers side fuse panel or pressing acclerator 3 times within 5 seconds with ignition on but not running and see what happens.
