I need a guide for lifter disassaembly and cleaning.
Hello, Does anyone know of a guide or procedure for disassembly of Metro lifters.
I want to take mine apart and clean them up. I also want to know if it would be OK to polish the tops. Thanks... |

Thank you again Johnny Mullet. Before I post another question about my Metro I'll just google "Johnny Mullet".

Why do you want to polish the tops?
The lifters and cam develop a wear pattern that is matched to each lifter and lobe. It's best not to disturb this. |

Re: I need a guide for lifter disassaembly and cleaning.
I see... Would this wear cause noise? It's not bad and looks like the rest. I have a couple spare heads on hand. Could I take another lifter and put it's innards in another after cleaning? Would it cause any problems? Thanks...

Re: I need a guide for lifter disassaembly and cleaning.
Normal wear is not going to cause noise.
I would just swap in the whole lifter since the inner bore of the lifter could be worn. |
