Passlock Fix Help

I have read the other thread and done a lot of research.

I decided to go the resistor route. Not hard cause the BCM is under the glove box. Here is my issue. I connected the resistor using alligator clips to test. The Security has been on for awhile and not gone away. I must have been in fail enable for some time now. Here is what I did:

1. Disconnected the battery (black only), then the unplugged the BCM
2. Installed resistor (2.2k 1/4w) with alligator clips and plugged BCM in
3. Reconnected the battery and the car starts with the light on still even with the yellow wire cut.

Is my problem that I need to get it out of fail enable before attempting the resistor?

Alligator clips not working?

Bad BCM, I don't think so as it has exhibited classic passlock symptons?

Otherwise how can I disconnect the battery in Fail enable mode and reconnect and have it still start. I am very frustrated.

Re: Passlock Fix Help

I have disconnected my battery when the yellow wire was cut for about 20 min. I reconnected the battery and it started right up. Are you trying to start it when the security light is flashing, is this what you mean by fail enable mode? Or do you have the yellow wire cut so it just starts all the time with the security light on all the time? You may want to just have it running in fail mode if yellow wire is cut, then reconnect yellow wire while it is running and wait a while. Then shut it off and try to restart it.

Re: Passlock Fix Help

Read this:http://www.oldsmobileforum.com/forum...ead.php?t=1194 for more info on the bypass, and passlock in particular, especially the article linked there.

Just to clarify: Your security light was on solid (not flashing) for a few weeks while driving. You got some resistors, used alligator clips to install them in the correct wire by the bcm, and now the car starts fine, but the security light is still on.
Now you wonder if disconnecting the battery will reset the fail-enable and cause the car to not start. Right?

If you have installed the correct resistance, disconnecting the battery will not cause any problems. The Passlock system will read the correct resistance, so it will think the correct key is present. However, the security light will still be on all the time. The link I gave tells how to remove the LED from the cluster to get rid of it.
