guage cluster

wanting to put a ford thunderbird gauge cluster in my chevy with a turbo 400, will the speedometer cable hook up or do I just scap the whole idea?

The fuel gauge will probably not function as expected. Ford guages used a 10-75 ohm sender, GMs used a 0-90 ohms sender (earlier versions were 0-30 ohms, until about 1965).

The speedo cable MAY be able to work with a replacement cable end. Repair kits used to be available to replace the cable end with a heat-glued piece. If you can get one with a Ford pattern, it might be possible to make it work. The speedo gear ratio is always an issue, but there are ways around that, too.
