2002 Dodge Ram Mystery
I have a problem with my truck that appears very intermitent. I don't drive the truck much unless the snow is bad or I need to haul a trailer and lately the truck runs fine unless I need to drive through a large amount of snow or a drift and when I hit a large pile of snow or a drift my battery guage slowly drops to 0, the check guages light comes on, the blower fan speed slows down, and the brakes appear to get hard. The issues reset themselves after a minute or if I shut the truck off and turn it back on. Until today this has not thrown a MIL however while going through a large drift today all of these issues appeared and then the MIL came on. I read the code and it is P1491. Any ideas what could be causing the issue, and now the MIL? I did see that the AC Condenser fan fuse can blown which may cause the MIL code, but what can cause the other stuff?

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Mystery
Wow!
Try driving the truck without plowing snow, the P1491 seems tobe with the electric fan relay circuit. I'am thinking snow, or water could short circuit. |

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Mystery
Ok thanks...I will see if there is a blown fuse or something that triggered the MIL. Has anyone seen something like this happen before?

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Mystery
Do a Google ''Dodge P1491''
You probably need rubber, or sealent on the fan control module for water protection. |

Re: 2002 Dodge Ram Mystery
there is a tsb to replace the fan with a revised one. I'm not sure if the tsb also includes flashing the pcm...
