Porsche 912

I built this for a friend who wants a real 912 but will never own one. I combined, inexpertly, a Fujimi 356 and 911 to make an approximation of a 912. Consternation and aggravation are what I got for my efforts, but my friend is very happy with it. I made some interior junk because I figured he'd need plenty of repair and maintenance information as well as maps of the North Jersey/New York City areas, which are covered with extremely dense road networks as anyone who has lived or drive there can attest.

Re: Porsche 912

It is very interesting project! Really your work is very similar on 912!!!! You can show intermediate photos of work-wip? What 911 has served as the donor for your model?

Re: Porsche 912

Good looking built. However I must say that I find the paintwork a bit dull. Maybe it's the pictures. What paint did you use?

All in all a good model and up to the next one.

Ketje, it is meant to look like it does. The paint matches photographs of a real 912 that were sent to me by my friend. The paint is Tamiya TS-48 Gunship Gray with TS-13 Clear. It is a very flat paint that doesn't gloss up really easily, but I did get what I was looking for. I'm sure it could be glossier with more clear and polishing.

Re: Porsche 912

I love it! I have wanted a 912 myself, but I too will never have one. Where did you get the 912 emblems? I have a 911 and several 356's that I can use for the 912, but I have never seen any of the emblems.

Re: Porsche 912

Very, very nice touch, the thing of the maps and the maintenance manuals. Where are the item number for the emblems, I guess they are the Hobby Design's, but, don't know which one.

I really like it! The maps and assorted items scattered throughout really add to it.

Re: Porsche 912

Fantastic build! There's something very pure about the look of the early 911 & 912
