Hydraulic Brake System
Very nice forum here with lot's of helpful information. After reading many pages of posts, I've seen a few with brake problems but none with the question that I'm going ask . I have a 93 dodge voyager, 3.3, two wheel drive. Many miles but she runs very well. The hydraulic brake system has failed. There is a recall on it. This is due to some components, the actuator assembly and the pump motor assembly, which have a lifetime warranty. This was fixed once but the dealers in my area won't touch it. Having this system will cost twice as much as the KKB value of the van. My question, is there a way to bypass the hydraulic system and put in a standard brake system. Doing research on my problem I ran across a post at Fixya.com by a guy who did just that. He said that he bypassed the system by using a master cylinder, brake booster, proportion valve and a brake pedal. I have all these parts new. He said that he bought a "common kit" online from a junk yard in Illinois. Unfortunately there's no link to email him to inquire how he did this. I know this isn't a repair thread but I am troubleshooting. This is my only vehicle and I need it badly. Thanks in advance for any input.
