IS there a difference between Japan Camry and US Camry
Hello to all.
I have a question. Is there a difference between a Japan manufactured Camry versus the Us Camry's window switch assembly (driver side). I have a friend that has a broken one and he claims that he cannot find one due to the fact his camry was made in Japan. I have located one at a local AP store for $65.00. He has been quoted $300.00 for one. Any verification or "bashing" of this claim is welcomed ![]() Thank you in advance. Oh yeah, it is a 99 Camry LE 3.0 Blessings

Re: IS there a difference between Japan Camry and US Camry
What I do when I have a question like this is go to one of the online Toyota dealer's parts sites or call or go to your local Toyota dealer. Tell them the year and model of the car and the part you are looking for. If they ask for a vin number or ask whether the car is made in the US or Japan, then you know they are different. If they don't ask, then it shouldn't matter.

There should be no difference in the price of the parts.

Re: IS there a difference between Japan Camry and US Camry
Look at the first digits of the VIN.
Camry's built in America will be marked with the numbers "1" or "4". Those built in Japan will start with a "J". There is no difference when replacing the drivers power window switch (master switch). I found one at Checker/O'Reilly for close to $200. It's not cheap as you can see. |

You should definitely try a bone-yard for one of these.
I got all kinds of parts for my '94, either from a local guy, or on EBay, no problems. He's sure it's the switch?
