Rear Power Window, Help Please.

Hi!! I have a 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix GT, and today the rear window(drivers side) decided to stop working. It will not stay in the up position, just keeps sliding down. We want to try and repair this ourselves, but not sure which part/parts need to be replaced. When pushing the switch I can still hear a noise from the motor, so I am not sure that the motor is the issue. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,
Kim Fox

Re: Rear Power Window, Help Please.

The window regulators are cable operated on your car. It's a fairly common issue that the cables fray/break which causes the issue you have. There are reliable aftermarket versions made by Dorman (part # 741-838 for the rear drivers side door)that are significantly cheaper than OEM/Dealer and replacement is fairly simple once you get the rear door pad off.

Re: Rear Power Window, Help Please.

Foxlady99, I posted to this site a step by step instruction on replacing the regulator and motor with pictures as a guide. Not too difficult of a job. The motor on yours may be fine and its just the cable in the regulator that is broken. Most replacement regulators come with the motor. I was able to find one on Ebay for about $40 dollars which is cheaper than what you would pay at a dealer. I have not any trouble with the ones I have replaced. Good luck.
