Seafoaming through PCV vacuum line?

Damn..title. I meant *vacuum*.

Hi, I'm looking to give my car a good cleanup. I heard to use Seafoam you need to pour some of it in the gas tank, into the oil via the oil cap (seems risky..), and then into a brake booster vacuum line. Can I just use the PCV valve vacuum line? I know where everything else is, but I don't know where the brake booster vacuum line is. I have an idea, but it doesn't look as easy as the PCV valve vacuum line.

Also, I bought a bottle of Chevron Fuel Injector Cleaner (Autozone guy told me it was better than the Lucas brand but Autozone wanted the employees to sell Lucas to the customers. He's a really cool dude so I bought what he suggested). Anyway, will I benefit from Seafoam any, or is the Chevron fuel injector cleaner enough?

How many miles do you have and which engine? You can use the PCV hose to do the top end cleaning with the Seafoam. IMO you are better off just doing a manual cleanup of the throttle body and components like the IAC. Don't put any Seafoam in the crankcase unless needed like trying to get moisture or coolant out of the crankcase.

The Chevron Techron fuel additive is good stuff. If you use Chevron brand gasoline it has some in it so running a separate cleaner through is really not necessary. Just make sure it is properly diluted. In other words use with a full tank of gas.

you can also do steam cleaning of the engine by slowly injecting small amounts of water into hot engine manifold at 1500 rpm while idling in park, or letting engine vacuum slowly suck in water at 1500 rpm through really narrow straw. You have to be careful not to inject too much water. Google this idea to learn more. Excellent for carbon cleaning.


if you ever had bad head gasket and coolant entering one of the cylinders you probably noticed that that cylinder was nice and clean while others had carbon on top of the pistons.

Not a Seafoam fan, but the PCV valve isn't going to pull as much vacuum, because of all the air going through the air duct work + filter.
