Unhappy 2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 L Electrical Issues

My daughter's 2002 Dodge Intrepid has what I think is an unusual problem, sometimes when she cranks the car, the air bag light comes on, goes out after about 3-5 seconds, and then comes back on, the heater blower switch will not operate, the power windows will not operate, and finally the turn signals will not work. All of this occurs at the same time. At other times she will crank the car and all of these things, along with everything else works fine. I bought one of those Haynes books, but unfortunately the information has not been very helpful. The only commonality between these circuits, that I can see is the (-), negative ground, as the (+), positive feed for each of these circuits takes a different path to get to the desired electrical action. i.e., fuses, switches, wiring, etc.

Do I need an exorcist, or is there a reasonable explanation for this problem?

Re: 2002 Dodge Intrepid 2.7 L Electrical Issues

There is a resonalble explanation. Have you check the joins between the doors. some time they will get pinched. know at the same time make sure all wire are not heated togather. if they are you can get a short. I had one that heated the wires and was blowing the ign fuse ever turn of the key. The coating was good on the wire but the heat eat away the insulating rating and caused it to ground out.

You now what have the dodge dealer test the brains. if its good go to home depo or and eletrical ware house and tell them your looking for a ohm meter. they are about 10.00-30.00. and hook the black lead to the ground and the red lead to the fram then turn the car on if you get a ohm reading then you got a ground wire touching a hot. also check and see if it dose it when the air condistioner is off. (completely)
