Angry 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

All, I changed my entire headlight units out on both sides due to sever burn in from old age. Now when I switch on my high beam, I can't see the difference. I had the headlights aligned and still no difference. Can anyone provide any answers. All and any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

What brand were these headlamps and did they come with new bulbs? Does the high beam indicator come on at the IP?

No bulbs came with the units. The highbeam indicator comes on every time. I can see that the highbeam is coming on, they don't have no direction.

Thanks

About all I can suggest is run the manual headlight aiming procedure below. Use the star adjusters on the headlamp assembly. And again what brand were these headlamps?

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

I assume these headlamp assemblies are aftermarket/e-bay type units? The reflectors in the cheap A/M assemblies are usually sub-par, and eventually the chromed surface flakes off and they get worse.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

we had just bought a 1999 pontiac grand prix gt today and when we drove it after dark we had noticed that the head lights were very dim and brights were about as good as the dims. also one light was dimmer than the other but also had a wire nut on the ground. the high beam idiot light is on at all times. also the fog lights do not turn on.

both head lights were replaced before we bought the car so im not sure of what brand they are.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

The capsuls are probably out of alighment.

The high beam indicator on constantly makes me wonder if someone tried to rewire the system. The fog light controll relay uses the high beams as a ground, so the two systems may be related.

I would take the headlights out and make sure they are 9007's and not 9004's. Then I would pull the fog light switch out and check if the high beam indicator goes off with the fog light switch unplugged.

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

something could have been done between the headlights and the fog lights because i had seen where the ground wire was cut by the headlight connector and reconnected with just a wire nut with the wires exposed connection could be bad

Re: 2000 Grand Prix GT Headlight Problems

I have the same problem with our 99 Grand Prix GTP. Low beams do about the same as high beams. Maybe even worse. Cannot figure it out. Have replaced bulbs, even the entire headlight assemblies.
