Question Valve Cover Gasket Replacement questions

Hello everyone,
I am in the process of gathering the parts to replace my plenum with a Dorman and also replace the LIM gaskets which I know are leaking anti-freeze into my oil. My question, however, concerns the replacement of the valve cover gaskets which I figured I might as well replace while I have it torn down. In looking up valve cover gaskets, along with the set of rubber gaskets it says "Grommets not included". My question is: what the heck are the grommets for....and, do I need them? I looked at my engine and don't see any grommets on the valve cover bolts. Or, are they somewhere else that I can't see?

Thanks for all of the wonderful info you guys have posted. Even though I have never done this kind of thing, I feel like I can tackle it with all your help.

There are rubber grommets under the valve cover bolts and the bolt fits through a hole in the grommet. I recall if you get FelPro valve cover gaskets the kit will come with them. See pic.

Yes you can!

And you are correct Bob, the fel-pro brand set of valve cover gaskets I bought did come with new grommits.
