96 with a slew of problems

hey guys, i really dont know where to start, bought a 96 skylark for 2 grand, only 89k on it.. first it started bogging down every now and then, and it would occasonaly die.. not very often, then the water pump went out.. (replaced it).. then it kept boggin down and dieing.. well then it started something weird.. i would drive it, and when i would go outside to start it back up, it wouldnt start, i would let it sit for a while and it would be fine. well now its to the point where it wont start at all.. maybe a little advise on what i should be checking for before i take it to a mechanic to get totaly raped... i appericiate it.. thanks guys

Now you know why the previous owner got rid of it! Start by checking fuel pressure & spark.

Re: 96 with a slew of problems

Ijust bought mine a few months ago 1 grand, 9kk on it.

I think i know what you are talking about i kind of ran into the same problem, and all it was was the alternator.

it felt like my battery wasnt giving it enough juice, or i blamed it on the cold.

come to find out i had a bad alternator.

i would check that out.
