Question How can I get to directional light bulb?

Hi, I own a 2001 330ci. I want to change the front passenger side directional burned out bulb. I thought I might be able to get at it by trying to pull out the whole light assembly. But I could only get that out just a little. Something was holding it from coming out all the way. I didn't want to force it and break something. Do I have to go in through the wheel well? I sure would appreciate some help on this one. Seems like a minor task. I would hate to have to take it in to the dealer.

They already got me for $208.00 for a new Xenon light bulb. Then they got me for $750.00 a year later because the bulb was good but wouldn't light up. They had to replace the igniter, and the only way was the remove the front end. So you can see why I might want to see if I can fix this on my own. Thanks Ives
