ambulance tech

I have a 2004 chevy (s-10) blazer 4x4 LS with a 4.3. The problem is that the dash warning lights have lit up twice without the key in the ignition or the vehicle running. Vehicle runs fine with these lights on and the fuel, oil volt and temp gauges are working fine. When you disconnect the battery cable and let it set awhile and redo the cables the lights are off. Is this an issue with the ecm,bcm or the pcm. Any advise would be great, thanks.

Any body or engine codes or dash codes?
What waring lights come on?
Real bright or dim light?
Bad ground/turn/tail/parking lights can cause feed back on dash stuff.

Re: ambulance tech

Thanks for the reply(s). to answer your questions, no there are no codes per my hand held scanner, the lights are very bright and the are all on, even ones I didn't know where in the panel. As far as my headlights and tail lights I haven't noticed any problems with them. Spoke with a couple of shops of which they mentioned that it could be the ecm, pcm,or the bcm of course they would be happy to look at and do a diagnostic on it for a priemum price. I would like to find out what module actually controls the dash and idiot lights to try to isoloate the module. Is there any diagnostic that can be done in the field, any free wiring or repair manuals for this.Again thanks for your replies and any info would be greatly apprectiated.

Re: ambulance tech

You might check for power to dash waring lights with key off.
Should omly have power tothem key on.

Auto zone web site may have some all data on it.
Most Public libraries have car repair info and some are on line.
Let us know how it goes.
Good Luck
