What do you use to polish your models?

I've used micro mesh before and it works well, now I'm trying the Tamiya polishing compounds and this works well for me, especially when getting into small recesses.

Is there a cheaper or better compound to use?

What are your preferences?

I use Tamiya compound as well, but also Finisher's compounds are very good and Mr Hobby liquid compounds are pretty good too.

I started out with MicroMesh which had a great first impression but then moved onto Tamiya compounds coupled with Meguiar's Scratch X and Tamiya wax. I only go up to about 3600/4000 mesh before polishing my way up through Tamiya coarse to fine, then scratch X and finally wax. I think Scratch X is pretty good value for money so, more economical.

I use 3M plastic cleaner and plastic polish. They work great.

Tamiya. Many cheaper, none better. I use all three, in sequence. Tamiya Finish comes very close to wax, IMO. Everything else I've tried leaves a fine scratch pattern that you can see in the right (wrong?) light.

I roll dip my cars in floor polish and do it slowly just like they did in the early days od the motor industry, then hang the body to dry in the laundry to dry.

I use Farecla compounds. Why? Because I happen to have some lying around in the house.

For sanding I use Mirka Abralon (comes in 360, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 grit). Cheaper then the "modelling stuff" and very probably the same. (Mirka makes the stuff, Tamiya repackages it)
