Will 98 Rodeo engine work in 00 Passport???

I have a 2000 Passport (10th vin digit is "Y") and the motor has a nice loud knock to it. I have had afun time locating a motor for it and have came across a 1998 Rodeo.

I know there will be some swapping of parts, but just wanted to check if there were any major differences that would keep this swap from happening?

I'm pretty sure it is just some parts that need to be swapped from your current engine for this to work.

Re: Will 98 Rodeo engine work in 00 Passport???

my 98 has a similar problem with the engine noise, it had a load knocking sound since the day i bought it about two years ago 145k, i have done about 25000k since then without any performance issues, it just annoying tried various solutions and types of oil but no luck.

most techs i have shown it to have said the problem is somewhere at the bottom of the engine, maybe a sticky valve but then they all quote a few $100's to investigate further.

i have read that this is a common problem on the 98 LS, has anyone experienced this and fixed it?
