99 3.8 fuel injector question
I have the fuel injectors out & want to thourghly clean them. (ruff idle, 240K mi.)
1. Can I apply voltage to them to open them up for maybe 10 seconds or so to run some cleaner through them? 2. From forum searches, 12 volts energizes the injector coil. Is this correct? 3. As I look at the top of the injector & the electrical connector is up ("north") which side is +? Thanks in adv. for the help. |

Re: 99 3.8 fuel injector question
This apply to 2001 year model ( according to my Ford electrical wiring diagrams book) but should be similar for 99 to 2003 model. The six injectors are feeded positivly (+12) all the time ( start or run) with the same wire ( color) ( red for the 2001 year model).
The other terminal for each injector is feed throught the PCM in correct sequence and duration with negative (-) and each wire has a different color for the 6 injectors. So locate which terminal has the same color for each injector so you will know which one is the positive side (+), red for the 2001 year model.
