2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse Universal Lighter
Replaced the lighter,Why is it blowing the fuses in my GPS and cell phone adapters?

They are probably too big for the socket. Mitsubishi uses 2 tabs near the bottom that are B+ to hold the cig lighter when it pops out after being heated. The tabs get bent against the walls of the lighter housing when something other than the lighter is inserted.

Thank you for your quick response. I'm new to this site.
I think the ground is where the positive connection should be...That would make the polarity incorrect because the lighter and the plug for the auto flash light works. I also blew out my cell adapter as well... |

I'm taking back the lighter assembly to AutoZone and getting one from the dealer and from pic i've seen on the internet it shows the Hot or red wire should be plugged in at the bottom of the Universal lighter assembly

Oh I mis-read your post. You are probably right, reverse polarity is not good.
