94 caprice digital speedometer problem

Does anyone know how to fix the digital speedometer? It used to go out and I could tap the dash above it a couple of times and it would come on. Today the speedometer went out and refuses to come back on. I tried cleaning the back of the cluster where it plugs in with a q-tip and rubbing alcohol, but it still doesnt work. Any one have any suggestions????

removal of the unit and then carefully inspecting the solder joints with a magnifing glass should reveal bad solder joints....

If it has stamped on it made in mexico this is your problem...
my odometer failed on the 1996 impala when new under warrantee...dealer said will take one week to send odometer out and will have to play odometer paper work B/S...I removed and re-soldered the bad circuits now still works great...took 45 min to fix...dealer one week !
