2000 caravan and e-break light not coming on

we need to get our tags renews and in safety ins it failed because jiffy lube said that when you pull the e-break the light in dash board is not coming on. Hubby checked and says that when you first put keys in ignition and all lights on dash that are suppose to come on all but e break light comes on. He checked the fuse under the dash where the gas paddles are. They are all fine. Is there a fuse for e break or what could be wrong? He says that he did the test when you first turn on the key for the lamp test the light should come on but it doesn't.
