replacing driver seat cover

Have any of you replaced your own leather seat cover -- driver side, bottom.

Any issues? Best price source? Does $185 sound good for leather replacement?

Local upholstery shop estimated $400 for leather, $150 for color matched vinyl. Vinyl would be ok, but the 110+ heat in the summer might be a problem.

Sounds like a rip off. I had both of my front seats done for $299.

if the seats are not cut or with cracked this can be color dyed with same color as you have now..these seats have a water based color dye pigment used to coat the leather..the leather can be sanded and then with simple proper proceedure re-dyed to look new again ...

leather technologies in roanoke VA. has all the dye/proceedures to do this...I repaired my silverado seat ,,the leather dye got damaged looks like it never happened... my 96 impala I re-dyed my vinyl dash and it looks new did that 3yrs ago ....

if the leather is ripped etc then 185 for an oem seat is about right..when my vehicle was new the driver seat cover was replaced on warrantee...not too hard...take the seat out of vehicle ...

Please post the source for your $185 replacement. I'd like to look at it.

Re: replacing driver seat cover

Try the seatshop.com out of Dallas. I just replaced my drivers seat bottom and arm rest. Very easy and good match
