1995 Jimmy Tranny problem
Thanks to many folks past and present in this forum I was able to repair a major fuel leak and replace my injection system and my Jimmy is\was running great,, Then about 2 weeks after the repair the tranny slipped going up a hill ( I believe 3rd gear) and then at the next light when I started moving it was like driving with the emergency break on,, Then a mile later at a stop sign, I went to drive and heard several loud clunks and had 1st gear only.. nothing above 15 MPH.. 2-3 miles to the house and the tranny fluid was just burned up even though I tried to keep the RPMs low... At 1 point on the way home I pulled into a parking lot and went through all of the gears. Had 1st and revearse.. The previous owner had this tranny rebuilt by AAMCO just 40K and 5 years prior.. I have very limited funds and just no green to go to a shop. A pull-a-part is just $60.. I am missing most of my tools as we had a house fire last Feb and we lost everything.. I have the truck up and the pan pulled.. Tranny fluid is Dark Brown and stinks to the high heaven ... Any advice??

Re: 1995 Jimmy Tranny problem
Sounds like it's time for a new tranny or an overhaul. Most likely the sun reaction gear broke.

Re: 1995 Jimmy Tranny problem
I was thinking something busted for sure.. Last time I heard metal clunk that loud I had shrapnel in my Oil pan(Buick 455).. I was suprised that I could drive home.. Looks like I am going to Pray for a fair-good tranny at the pull-a-part and reubild the one that is in there now when I get the time and money.. Many Thanks
