solid axle swap

i got a 93 halfton sierra with a 350 and a 5speed. i want to put a solid axle in the front to fit my new 35s. i looked about doing a dana swap but i would have to buy all the parts. i can get a 10 bolt front axle for free and maybe even the 205 tcase too. i talked to a guy and he told me that if i did the 10 bolt it would make it not run well. he told me i would have to carb it but i do not know if switching the transfer cases to run the pumpkin on the passanger side would make the truck act unusal.what do you think, thanks
