F-250 project
Hello everyone, not sure where my last post went so I'll try again.
I am want ing to hear some pros and cons of using a 351w or a 351C in an 84 F-250. Also I want to use a 5-speed instead of the 4 it came with. Anyone ever put one in? The truck will be an all around use kinda, probably more off roading than communiting. Thanks |

Re: F-250 project
pro to using a 351w is that it is still a small block and is easier to find than a 351c. also tyhe windsor is cheaper to mod than the cleveland, in my experience anyways.

Re: F-250 project
If you use a 5 speed overdrive - make sure you get a ZF. I have swapped a Mazda for a ZF before -- the bolt pattern on the block is the same for all small blocks. There shouldn't be a problem finding the correct transmission.
I agree about the 351W - easier to find - from what I hear better gas mileage too. |

Re: F-250 project
On another note about trannys - if your truck is 2WD I would highly recommend a Fuller 5 speed. I have put a Clark/Fuller in a 4WD truck - but to do that you have to have a remote mount transfer case. These cases are available but probably a little harder to find. The Fuller trans has a lot lower 1 st gear - I think a 7.24 ratio instead of the ZF's 5.08 - 5.72 ratio.

Re: F-250 project
also the clevland is a lot heavier so u would have to do some front end modification if u were doing a lot of off roading
