headlights and drl don't work

2001 sunfire the low beam and drl lamps don't work.high beams are ok.checked fuse block and fuse cluster and changed relay. plase help

Make sure the bulbs are good, they have separate filaments for low/high beam, it's rare but they could have both burnt out at roughly the same time. Check for power at the connector, if you don't have it, check the wiring harness. It's somewhat common for the wires to corrode and open.

just finished a little test drive i notice when i put the car in drive the lights flash about 5 times then a service light with a wrench comes on in the dash if i turn high beams on then put it in drive its ok

that service light indicates a bulb out

Did you look at the DRL module? I believe Body Control Module is also involved in this circuit. Time for a DRB Diagnostic to see if you can save some time and grief. Should be a trouble code registered if the little wrench is flashing. Need those headlights!

It's implied with "check for power", but also check ground. A number of people have have had this problem, a quick search should give you the location that usually fails.

BTW, DRB is the Chrysler factory scan tool... You'll need a Tech-2 to check codes on your GM.
