96 grand caravan door light wiring problem

hi i got this 96 van and it was missing the door light switch so i took it off my 2005 caravan and put it in nothing doesnt work

so i took the passagner side switch out and then the lights go out, so then i test the drivers again and then it works the push button when its screwed into place, but if u cloose the door it comes back on like its not pressing right or something, but with that side working again if i put the passanger side switch back in and gets grounded lights come back on and the drivers side switch doesnt work again, and i have no idea if there is a trunk switch malfunctioning

anyone come across this problem or know what i should trace for?

Re: 96 grand caravan door light wiring problem

so still havent found problem, is there a multifunction option that makes the lights not work right, and if i dont hook up the switch on the passenger door let it hang out the connection and put the door pin light on direver side it works but if i close the door then it doesnt work, so i not sure whats wrong with it or why i cant put a switch on both sides and get it to work
