drilled t-stat?
hey all, just got a quick question. what are, if any, the benefits of a drilled t-stat? i did a quick google search (lol) and seen on another GP forum that it helps those in the colder climates by letting a little seep through and warm up the coolant in the radiator, so its not so cold going into the block?

The only reason for drilling a t-stat flange is to allow air to escape during installation or cooling system service making air-bleeding easier. Any larger than a 1/8" hole and you're affecting the function of the t-stat and defeating it's rated purpose. And FYI, GM t-stats for 3800 now come with a jiggle valve pre-installed to aid in the bleeding process.
