1997 S-10 2.2 electrical problem

I'm trying to help a neighbor diagnose this problem on his '97 S-10 2.2 with about 150K. The truck died while driving, he started it back up and got it home. Now it will not start again. The codes are reading bad cam sensor and crank sensor. Now, the truck has been sitting for a few weeks, and now when he turns the key he gets nothing. No lights or anything. He's ready to just sell the thing, but I'd hate to see him get next to nothing for it if it's something easy. My guess is start with the battery and connections, but can anyone tell me if losing battery power would cause these 2 codes to pop up? He did say that he cleared them and they came right back. Any Ideas??

Thanks
Jake

97 is a bad year for the ignition switch. Try a search on it here to properly check it...
