Welcome to AF. 1st place to start looking is fuel pressure. Need to put a guage on it and post back pressures when this happens.

Also need to know what motor you have.

fuel pressure testing proceedure is every where on these forums just look thru them ...list your engine that helps...if you have a 350 / 5.7L you will need 60-65 psi of fuel pressure..follow the proceedure list ...

fuel filter must be replaced every 30-40,ooomi and the fuel tank must be kept above 1/4tank...if not the fuel pump gets damaged.

If it is a BAD fuel pump use only a delphi pump...no air tex pumps....

Re: 1998 Chevy 1500 wont stay running

air tex = bad?

What brand of fuel filter do you guys usually go with. I always stuck with delco untill recently when they started outsourcing their parts. Now I mainly run WIX for all my filters.

Next time you are at wal-mart, pull an ac delco PF52 oil filter off the shelf and look at how crappy they have become. Compare it to a fram (fram looks WAY sturdier and better built). Then compair the delco filter to its wall-mart brand counterpart (forget the brand name, supertech maybe?). They look identical except for the color (delco is blue and supertech is black). Both seem to have identical internals. Delco and wal-mart brand supertech = same source?

air tex products suck...a/c delco oil filters hacked out crap..fram filters are well know for poor filter media and construction assembly..

wix makes a quality products as does others like, mobil and purolator plus oil filters...the fuel filters now I would go with wix...who knows where the a/c delcos are made [china] ?

delphi [non clone] fuel pumps are so far the best in results..but not the dephi $100.oo pump......

I would not trust wally mart auto products too much chinese crap ..

any questions on how well these filters are built rather than argue on these forums just cut them open and you will see....compare with the recommended....seeing is believing !
