Help!! Electrical Problem 1995 chevy apv
Hello everyone, I have a 1995 Chevy apv 3.8, with some sort of electrical problem. I just purchased this vehicle and ran perfect until i turned it off in my drive way. I went start it and it seemed the battery was dead, wouldn't start, no power to the light or anything else. Went to get it charged and put it back in the vehicle. Tried to start it and nothing. I retighten the battery cables. When i tried to start it again, it would only try to turn over when i held the key on in the on positon for a few seconds. I thought it was the starter so i tap the starter and it started and then it would die and loss power. So now i either have no power or little power and the engine turns over but doesn't start. I looked for possible wires grounding out on the frame and alternator but couldn't see any. any ideas. Maybe the wiring to starter is bad?? Any help would be great

Re: Help!! Electrical Problem 1995 chevy apv
Hi, if your saying the starter/circuit has a problem? When the problem occurs, check the actual voltage reading at the purple wire, starter solenoid. Some of the national brand autostores will test the starter for you, if you think that is the issue? Yeah, you have to take it off and take it to them. Any testing at the solenoid, make sure the tranny is in park or neutral and the e-brake is set.

Re: Help!! Electrical Problem 1995 chevy apv
Battery has a full charge and connections are good? Purple wire at starter solenoid should be hot with key in the start position, use a testlite. If it isn't hot, backtrack the circuit. Is this an automatic? Did you try cranking in neutral? Again if no voltage on the purple wire, possibilities, feed to or from the ignition switch-- neutral switch-- wiring circuit.
