driver side power window

Why does my 1999 Ford WindStar driver side power window does not work it just makes a clicking sound near the fuse box? All of the other windows work fine.

Re: driver side power window

Bad motor? Jamed mechanism? Wiring problem? Bad relay?

The clicking noise is most likely the relay that delivers power.

Re: driver side power window

Could the relay affect the door locks as well? I am having the same problem on my 01, but the windows works sometimes and then sometimes i hear click click. I am thinking the motor because my motor is very noisy when it does/did work..

Also my locks seem to work whenever they feel. Both move a little bit sometimes and then other times they do nothing...

No, at least not the same relay. Each window motor has it's own relay. The power is applied to the window motor through the relay, controlled by the GEM, which senses the control buttons.

I don't recall if the door locks work through a relay or directly from the switch. If they work through a relay, then it's the same idea as the window motor, but through dedicated components.
