Cool hard upshift and no rpm gage

I have a 01 grand prix gt 3.8 n/s.. I have read on this forum that the hard upshift is a faulty solenoid. i will try the fix and also the rpm gauge is a bad crankshaft sensor. my questions are

1. when doing the cranshaft sensor do i need an impact wrech.
2. i have limited mechanical experience. i can change brakes and oil, how difficult will it be for me to try the transmission fix for hard upshift?

3. How long will doing both of these 2 jobs take with someone like myself considering my mechanical skills...

4. WHY DOES MY GRAND PRIX HATE ME?????lol

Air impact wrench is recommended but not necessary if you have the right hand tools.

Are you referring to the accumulator shift kit mod? It is a DIY job but not necessarily for novices.
