97 GTP- Service Engine Soon Light

Hello all, it's been a long time since I have been on here. I have a 97 GTP and the service engine soon light just came on. It seems to be running OK but then I put it in park and revved the engine. The engine would not run over 3000 rpm. It sounds like it is governed. Could this be the cause of the service engine soon light? Thanks for responding.

Tony

Re: 97 GTP- Service Engine Soon Light

Get it scanned and post the odb-ii code (DTC) to see why the SES/CEL light is on.

In PARK or NEUTRAL there is a rev limiter. No more than 4000 rpms and then it cuts off.
