97 Trans Issues

OK so my alternator / battery charging cable fell off from my terminal. I didnt notice since the tahoe still ran until the battery was 95% drained and then chugged & died. It was shifting perfectly fine and driving groovy before and now it seems like 1st gear is more or less slam shifting itself into second. Under light acceleration this is 'harder' and under WOT it vanishes. Any ideas ? I know it's not slipping because I can still accelerate the same as I did before its just shifting a crap load harder between 1st & 2nd.

Re: 97 Trans Issues

When you drained the battery down you also lost power to the trans. Scan the computer for codes, write down all code/s, clear codes and drive it again.

Re: 97 Trans Issues

Am I scanning the actual ECU ? Or a special transmission ecu? Also does the old disconnect the negative battery cable and use the reserve in the system up work for clearing the codes or will I need a scanner to clear them ?

Connect a scanner to the OBD II plug. You can read and clear the codes from there. In an OBD II system its always best to clear the codes with a scanner.
