97 k1500 5.7l shifting probs please help i need my truck back

Hello I'm new to the threads. I have a 97 GMC k1500 sierra ext cab z71. I'm having problems shifting. It shifts fine for the first shift then when it goes to shift again I have to rev it up to 5000 rpm (6000 is top end) and let off completely before it shifts up again. Then if I touch the brakes or slow down I have to re rev the engine all over again running almost 3800rpm at 35mph . I checked the tranny fluid it was low dropped 2 quarts into it was up to normal level and still won't shift. Ate up almost 5 gallons driving 20 miles. Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks

You really should scan it for the tps info, otherwise this is pure guess work.
