2003 Suburban - electrical problems???

I have a 2003 Suburban that I have had since new. This same time last year I started having weird things go on. I will be driving and all of a sudden the doors will unlock and then lock. When this happens, if you catch it, the security light will flash on the dash. Sometime when this happens the car actually turns off then on (I know this because AC turns off, cruise control turns off, heated seats turn off - and they do not turn back on until I have restarted the car). Sometimes when the car turns off - it does not automatically restart - I then have to pull over, put into park and restart. After all these little things happen the next time I start the car the ABS light stays on for 10-15 minutes. I have had it into the dealership - after $350 they could not find anything. No error messages show up on the main computer. I tried switching out the PCM - did not fix problem. Took to another automotive shop - they swear it was the ignition switch - they replaced (was burned up) - but this did not fix the problem. I think whatever my problem is burned up the ignition switch. Could it be the BCM?

Re: 2003 Suburban - electrical problems???

The first thing to check is all the ground connections, battery to frame, engine to frame. there may be others. Also check the connections to the battery. I would take each one apart and clean them up with a wire brush.

you must check the battery connections, and the grounds especially in the engine compartment...as mentioned this is the first step...removal and cleaning of all the grounds is required ...just because they look secure don't mean that they have good electrical conductivity..

these vehicles are known to have these issues where road chemicals are used ....check the ground under the vehicle under the driver seat area frame rail..also..

the other item which has been found is loose fuses...holders damaged by improper fuse removal...

I would start with a new battery, and consider a Body Control Module (BCM) from a friend!
