boosting with 93 octane
Anyone know how much boost a b16a can handle using 93 octane before detonation occurs?

So my internals will give out before the fuel does? So then how much boost can a b16a3 with stock internals handle reliably?

What would cause the mixture to run lean or rich? How can I avoid running lean?

Keep it around 7-8psi, safely.

Either way its a quik way to blow up your engine. the problem with turbo's on NA cars or increased boost on already turbo cars is that there is much more air comming in and the ECU cannot make up for it either because it software can do only so much or beacuse your fuel system just cannot deliver enogh fuel. the probem around the ECU is to get a stand alone and program it yourself or get a piggyback ECU that will tell your ecu what to do. that is not enough if you plan to use high boost though in that case you need an upgraded fuel system like new injectors fuel rails and a fuel pump. if you plan to use low boost like 6 psi i think your fuel system should be enough but i would recomend getting a piggyback. if you plan high boost get a piggyback or stand alone with reinforecd bottom with new fuel system. my question is how much money do you plan to spend? and how fast do you want your car to be?

We'll I'd like the spend the minimum for turboing a car so I was thinking about a custom setup buying parts from ebay. So to get a low end turbo setup with used parts I guess $1000-1500. Since I don't have the cash to make the car set any records I'm more realistically looking at low 14s. Also is there any way to know the stoic ratio other than a guage?

well sounds like you want a low boost low cost setup. then as i said what you need is a piggyback. but if you build it custom you'll need to do the tuning youself ta make sure you run a proper mixture. to fund out how you run i still recomend having a gauge just to keep an eye during racing. But another way is to plug a computer in the piggyback that will tell you the mixture and that is how you will tune it.
