93' Camry shifting late (around 3000 RPM)

I have a 93 Camry (4 cylinder, A/T) with 185k and just the other day I noticed that the water pump was leaking and had it replaced today. Just the day before I started noticing that the car is shifting way late. Since i'm not an aggressive driver my gears normally switched around 2400 rpm and with ease (no jerking) this car before drove like a brand new car. Now I drive the thing and it revs up to 3000 rpm and stays there for a few seconds then shifts somewhat hard. I'm really torn over this because there was nothing wrong with the shifting until the water pump started going bad. IDK if its the transmission failing or the shift cable from the motor to the tranny. I also checked the fluids on the tranny dipstick and its perfect. Need help!

Replace the engine coolant temperature sensor. It is most likely the problem.

Where would that sensor be located? On the radiator?

^ The coolant sensor in adktoyota's picture is the correct sensor. It is the one under the green plastic connector. It is referred to as the engine coolant temperature sensor or the ECT sensor in Toyota's manuals. You can also check it for being in/out of range with a digital volt/ohmeter and the specs from any manual. There are Toyota factory service manuals stickied at the top of this forum that are available for free downloading. Download the generation 3 manual.
