99 Bravada 4X4 problem
I have a '99 Bravada with the AWD light on. With the recent wintery weather, I realized only the rear wheels are engaged (my Bravada never fishtailed before). Can you give some more details on the fix? I do have that clicking sound near the kick panel below the glove box when I start it up. I took it off last night and the wires seemed fine.
I've contemplated the blue fluid, but I don't even know where it goes. Thanks. |

Auto AWD? Tag on back of transfer case. You need to get it on a transmission/transfer case scanner to get codes and to test it out for the problem. Post back any codes? On fluid how many miles on it? The blue GM fluid is for the 136, Should be serviced every so many miles. It goes into the transfer case. Check and fill and drain plugs on rear of transfer case. First make sure it is fulll of fluid and service if needed. And sometimes a fluid flush is needed. Any sevice or check engine lights or transfer case lights on or blinking?

Re: 99 Bravada 4X4 problem
I just looked, the label indicates it's a 136. It's the "Smart Track" AWD version. I've never changed the fluid and the Bravada has 187000 miles. There's no check engine lights, only the "Service AWD" light is illuminated. I'll see about getting the codes checked. Do you check the codes from a location other than the OBDII port?

Re: 99 Bravada 4X4 problem
Yes it is tested from the OBD11 diagnostic port.
Service transfer case light on indicates transfer case codes. But you need a good transmission /engine/transfer case scanner to to test it. If yo have any transfer case codes or other post back code no. Fluid should be serviced and with that many miles on it a good fluid flush would be in order.
